Only three days are left till the Romanian Pavilion launches Romania’s Day at Expo Milano 2015 on Wednesday, 29 July, and preparations for the event are on the home stretch.
According to tradition every participant country choose a national day. Romania’s day will be 29 July, which in fact coincides with the Day of the National Anthem.
The Romanian delegation at the event will be headed by Valeriu Zgonea, President of the Chamber of Deputies.
For every participating country de National Day is the moment of maximum visibility, so for this occasion the Romanian Pavilion is organizing a series of public and economic diplomacy events intended to generate interest for Romanian culture and investment opportunities.
The special program for Romania’s Day at Expo Milano starts at 10:30hrs with the official ceremony and ends at 20:30hrs.
After the official moment the Expo visitors will be treated to an artistic moment with folk dances and will be able to admire the Romanian traditional costume in an all-out performance by folk ensemble “Cindrelul – Junii Sibiului” that will be given on the entire area of the exhibition site.
The same day will see a Business and Investment Forum, given in cooperation with the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and attended by Romanian and Italian businesspersons with the goal of developing new partnerships for cooperation in domains where the Romanian companies have proven competitive at international level and of the successful Italian investors in Romania.
The evening ends to the sound of music again, this time in a classical music concert given by the Romanian Youth Orchestra under conductor Cristian Mandeal and with participation from soprano Anita Hartig, at the Auditorium of EXPO Milano.
Attending the series of events throughout the day will be representatives of the Romanian and Italian authorities, of the diplomatic corps, members of the business communities of the two countries and of the numerous Romanian community in Italy, journalists, general public.
Universal Exhibition Expo Milano 2015 is taking place between 1 May and 31 October 2015, under the general theme “Feeding the Planet. Energy for life.”
During its 6 months the exhibition brings together 148 countries and international organizations.
Romania participates with its own Pavilion, built on 887 square meters and located in the central area of the exhibition grounds. The Pavilion’s design is an architectural reinterpretation of a traditional Romanian house, now integrated in the contemporary world by modern audio-video presentation systems and innovative technological solutions.
In 1998, the date of July 29th was established as Day of the Romanian National Anthem – „ Deșteaptă-te Române! (Awake, Romanian!) which is a symbol of the Romanian Revolution of 1848. Right after the December 1989 Revolution „Deșteaptă-te Române” was chosen for the Romanian national anthem, and was formalized as such in the 1991 Constitution.
